RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Head of Medical & Clinical Affairs Asia Pacific (Senior Director) will provide strategic medical oversight and delivery across the China and Asia Pacific Portfolio for Consumer Health with a strong emphasis and focus on the Self Care business including the China OTC business.

This individual will serve as the Medical & Clinical Strategy and Operations lead for the AP region and serve on the AP R&D Leadership Team (RDLT), The China Self Care Business Board and the Global Medical & Clinical Sciences Leadership Team. As a member of the Global Medical and Clinical Sciences leadership team, this leader will provide medical/clinical and organizational leadership on all AP specific topics and ensure support and commitment from Senior Medical and R&D Management for optimal resource allocation to effectively serve needs of the APAC business including China.

This leader will bring credible medical/scientific perspective on all business relevant issues while operating with an enterprise leadership mindset. This medical leader will work very closely with multiple cross-functional partners including regulatory affairs, legal, marketing, market research, safety, quality, and operations. He/She will provide strategic medical input into AP Regulatory topics, Policy Issues as well as Innovation Programs including Product and Commercial Innovation efforts as needed. He/She will also serve as the senior medical leader for the AP business ensuring there is strong alignment with the Safety Organization on all relevant safety topics for the AP, Consumer Health portfolio.

This is a broad role and one where he/she will have responsibility for developing strategies, policies and objectives for a team of 25+ Scientific and Medical professionals which includes medical affairs, medical information, professional education, claims support, and works closely with related regional franchise functions to achieve company goals and objectives.
He/she will be expected to have responsibility in the short term for prioritization of work and resources. It is essential that the AP Medical leader has the capability and leadership skills to develop and orchestrate programs that provide patients/consumers and healthcare providers with meaningful products, helps the company drive growth, continually enhance quality and compliance, and strengthen the capabilities and the culture of the organization.

The Senior Director will need to ensure all related medical information, education and promotional information is accurate, relevant and conforms to all applicable regulations. He/ She needs to work seamlessly with a wide range of cross-functional partners (e.g., commercial organization, regulatory, safety, quality) to drive innovation, provide support for marketed products and manage of issues. Also, work cross functionally to prepare for AP focused NPD programs and be the key providing strategic leadership this effort.

Specific Responsibilities include:
Medical Affairs Team Leadership
- Line management of the AP Medical Affairs team
- Create a strong development culture, ensuring personal development plans are in place and their delivery facilitated, and that succession planning is undertaken
- Coach and where necessary provide direct guidance to/share expertise with other team members to ensure that their contributions are maximised
- Ensure appropriate resources available to deliver the business objectives
- Assist in the maintenance and development of appropriate systems and processes within AP Medical Affairs to ensure quality, efficiency and the measurement of performance
- Recruitment and retention of talented, capable and committed staff

Regulatory Affairs Partnership
- Work closely with Regulatory Affairs colleagues to ensure the data provided to regulatory agencies is accurate, and that our products are properly represented
