**Senior Scientist, Imaging Biomarkers (2 years Contract)**

At our company, we are committed to becoming the premier, research-intensive biopharmaceutical company and are dedicated to providing leading innovations and solutions for today and the future. Our mission is to discover, develop, and provide medicines and vaccines that save and improve lives around the world. We strive to transform breakthrough science into novel therapeutics and vaccines, and our scientific curiosity drives us to invent solutions to some of the world's most challenging diseases. Many begin in our Research & Development division, where we push the boundaries of science with the hope and expectation that the medicines and vaccines we invent will lead to better health for the society for generations to come.

In Singapore, our center is located within the Biopolis, the heart of Singapore's biomedical research community. Here, we are focused on identifying and validating new drug targets, exploring innovative therapeutic modalities, and leveraging clinical studies. We use disease or therapeutic response biomarkers to increase our understanding of human biology and drive a therapeutic pipeline to address unmet medical needs. Our state-of-the-art laboratory supports discovery biology and translational medicine and is an integral part of our company’s world-class network for drug discovery.

Join our imaging biomarkers team at our research laboratory in Singapore in this **2 year contract role**. We integrate biology, imaging technology, and data science to discover novel biomarkers in disease biology to accelerate drug discovery and development. As a Senior Scientist with solid hands-on experience in artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and image analysis, you will leverage AI/ML for integrating digital pathology and spatial multi-omics imaging to enable novel biomarker discovery and target identification/validation. You will work closely with colleagues from discovery biology, translational medicine and external vendors/collaborators. You will also gain opportunity to work with highly experienced and dedicated scientists, learn from leading industry experts, gain exposure and professional experience working for a research-driven enterprise, and use your passion, creativity, knowledge, and collaboration skills to find solutions to challenging problems in your day-to-day work.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Develop deep learning/machine learning algorithms and image analysis approaches for digital pathology and spatial multiomics imaging.
- Work with structured and unstructured data from different modalities and develop data integration methods to provide novel insights into disease biology.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. wet lab scientists involved in the data acquisition/imaging studies, biologists, statisticians) and external vendors or partners.
- Formulate appropriate hypothesis, identify and execute appropriate analytical methodologies, and interpret AI findings to elucidate disease pathophysiology, discover novel biomarkers, and support target identification/validation.
- Identify internal and external datasets and keep up to date with emerging spatial AI/ML platforms and evaluate their utility.
- Make recommendation/propose study design based on AI/ML analysis results for new target identification and biomarker development.
- Communicate and present results to scientific and technical audiences (e.g. internal meetings, conference presentation, journal publication).
- Accurately document data analysis workflow/pipeline and results in electronic notebooks and/or other required formats in compliance with company policies and project needs.

**Educational Qualifications**:
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or MSc/BSc with 5+ years of relevant research experience in AI/ML, image analysis & processing, and/or spatial multi-omics data analysis.

**Required**:

- Experience in medical imaging analysis and processing.
- Proficient in the following programming language: Python, R, Shell, Matlab.
- Keen to learn drug discovery research, disease biology and biomarker development and qualification process.
- Outstanding presentation and communication skills to convey key concepts/results to audience with diverse background.
- Highly collaborative, fast and earnest learner, and self-motivated to handle multiple projects and priorities under challenging study timelines.
- Self-inspired and enthusiastic team player capable of working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional working environment.
