You will lead a team to drive and oversee every project from design kick-off, construction stage to opening, while continuously seeking improvement and innovative solutions to ensure ultimate retail excellence that resonates with the brand’s identity and vision while ensuring creative and articulated retail strategy that is in line with global AD’s Direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Design
- Lead the design team to design and oversee all Fragrance & Beauty Retail projects, department store counter, standalone boutique & travel retail distributions, across APAC Region.
- Be the Advocate for APAC markets in design and markets’ needs and implementation of projects in the region.
- Responsible for understanding and adapting Global design guidelines in the regional roll
- out of all the projects and work closely with AD teams to adapt the guidelines and find solutions for APAC projects.
- Drive the design team to design and manage all projects with highest creativity and quality, that answers to relevant programs and requirement from markets, in a cost
- efficient and budget-conscious and timely manner.
- Work closely with Merchandising team to ensure creative, impactful and articulated store presentation.
- Act as a service provider to the markets by collaborating closely with regional key stakeholders: Retail, VM, RE & relevant internal teams.
- Support and advise market teams in location, space and design negotiations with Department Store or landlords.
- Systematically challenge site/DS/client requirement appropriately to increase creative value, visual impact and commercial needs.
- Manage design workflow and status to oversee projects from project Brief review, through design and construction stages and up to completion and opening for each project.
- Update monthly planning status on markets’ renovations and new projects. - Supervise the team’s technical drawing packages and support local markets in cost
estimates and value engineering. - Supervise sourcing of materials and finishing for the region, maintaining library resources.
- Seek out and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies, project savings, and innovative design solutions to enhance overall project delivery.
- Ensure highest level of quality and consistency in the construction of all counter & standalone boutique across the region.
- Interface with relevant internal functional teams and external consultants & vendors/contractors to ensure optimal project delivery.
- Lead the team to advise and support local teams on POS improvements & retrofits.
Project Management
- Lead the team to provide regional Project Management service to the markets in the Region.
- Lead the team to manage project timeline, ensure timely delivery of project and Opening schedule.
- Lead the team to support planning, managing and tracking of project costs and ensure projects meet budget requirements.
- Lead the team to support and collaborate with local Store-planning team to manage projects through various stages of project development from design kick-off, construction to completion & Opening.
- Lead the team to collaborate and drive each project with external consultants that include QS, MEP, Lighting, LEED, and structural engineer where applicable.
- Lead the team to support local store planning team on shop drawing review and validation, factory QC, site reviews and follow up on defect punchlist.
- Educate new and existing contractors, update them on new techniques, details and directions for store design.
People Management
- Lead and drive the Design team to continuously engage and inspire them to perform their best to ensure highest level in creative and innovative retail environments.
- Lead and drive Local Store Planning teams to continuously engage and inspire them to perform their best at project executions.
- Challenge, coach and develop Design team and Local planning teams to make innovative solutions to concept implementation and construction issues.
- Organize and plan the Team’s overall workload timeline and ensure high quality drawing package delivery in a timely manner
Person Specifications: Academic / Professional Qualifications
- Degree of Bachelor in Architecture.
Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years of design experience in architectural or interior design, with minimum 5 year experience in design of branded retail or luxury retail environments.
