**What the role is**
- The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) aims to build a cohesive and vibrant society, and to deepen Singaporeans’ sense of belonging to our nation. Youths (defined as age 15-35 years old) are an important segment of our population, and play a pivotal role in contributing to the success and strengthening the social fabric of our nation. Youths are increasingly civically engaged and have a desire to make a difference. It is important that the views of youths are heard and valued, and that they have sufficient opportunities to partner the Government to make a difference, and to achieve their diverse aspirations in life. You will be part of a team that oversees policy issues to support our youths across a wide range of areas that matter to them. These include (i) ensuring job and skills opportunities so that youths can achieve their diverse career aspirations, (ii) supporting their mental health and well-being so that they can be more resilient, and (iii) building their civic capacity so that they are empowered to contribute to society. You will also be the advocate for youth issues in support of Whole-of-Government (WOG) policymaking, to ensure that youth concerns and interests are addressed.
**What you will be working on**
- You will: o Work with the National Youth Council (NYC) to understand youth trends and sentiments, through sense-making data from surveys, research studies, and engagements with youths. This includes working with government agencies to design and conduct engagements with youths, to hear from them first-hand and better understand their views and ideas. o Work with government agencies to translate research and engagement insights into policy recommendations so that the Government is responsive to youths’ needs. o Develop programmes and initiatives with partners, where necessary, to mobilise youths so that they are empowered to take action and create positive change in society. o Put up research and policy papers to advocate for youth issues and interests at WOG policy platforms and to support WOG policy agenda. o Drive partnerships with community and youth sector organisations, including leading national-level partnership platforms, such as on mental well-being.
**What we are looking for**
- o Ability to understand national objectives and keep the big picture in focus, while being very grounded in real citizens’ sentiments/issues. o Comfortable in analysing data and statistics, to draw useful insights to inform policy and engagement work. o Strong stakeholder engagement, with the ability to understand the different perspectives and interests among diverse stakeholders across public, people, and private sectors, including government agencies and diverse archetypes of youths. o Curious, analytical, and imaginative, and willing to question the status quo to propose new ideas and solutions. o Ability to translate strategic/policy issues into relevant lines of research enquiry. o Ability to understand and make recommendations as to how programmes could be better operationalised to achieve our strategic objectives. o Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
