IT Specialist

**Duties**:
**Software Engineering/Applications Security Development**
- Serves as an authority on a diverse range of highly technical and complex software engineering, development, security, and identity management issues.
- Coordinates information security and identity management activities within the Login.gov program organization.
- Performs technical collaboration, coordination, and overarching operational processes on multiple highly complex IT modernization projects and strategic initiatives.

**Project Leadership**
- Provides technical advice, leadership, and direction on software engineering related projects and associated issues for the improvement of the Login.gov product.
- Ensures IT projects are delivered on budget and comply with the terms of agreements. Evaluates potential projects and other related work for impact, risks, and alignment with goals.
- Reviews and revises project direction based on outcome of experiments and user-based learning.

**Provides Leadership to Ad Hoc Teams**
- Mentors ad hoc team members, as necessary, and evaluates and improves team practices and establishes and/or ensures compliance with standards.
- Determines the size, skills, and roles necessary for ad hoc teams led to deliver products/services and identifies appropriate team members.

**Relationship Management**
- Serves as a liaison establishing and maintaining mutual understanding and cooperation with executive, management, and staff stakeholders within GSA and customer agencies.
- Develops cooperative relationships working with customer agencies and navigates and works through conflicting priorities from stakeholders.

- **Current or Former Political Appointees**: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service.
- Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 2 investigation level).
- Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Security’s e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
- Serve a one year probationary period, if required.
- Be able to work frequent overtime
- Participate in the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), which includes attending meetings and planning activities; and carrying out mission-critical work at a designated location other than your primary work site (which may be outside of your commuting area).

The GS-15salary range starts at $143,736 per year.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or higher in the Federal service.
