- Lead the development of new plastic injection tooling projects to meet a wide range of product performance and cosmetic requirements.
- Lead and refine the design for manufacturing process by collaborating with supply management, product design, industrial design, and manufacturing engineering groups on material selection, design feasibility, and aesthetics of new plastic part & tooling designs.
- Provide technical expertise on tooling and part design that will influence part critical requirements.
- Work with suppliers to understand all aspects of the manufacturing of plastics parts.
- Review and approve tooling DFM from suppliers.
- Track suppliers' weekly build progress while participating in sample trials.
- Responsible for supporting and troubleshooting part quality and manufacturing issues related to tooling.
- Responsible for direct tooling modifications approval such as, TF parts, first article inspection (FAI) reports, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reports.
- Review and analyze plastic part design for optimal part design, create risk assessment, and recommend improvements.
- Utilize advanced engineering technology to solve engineering issues and make decisions and judgments.
- Drive continuous improvement and advanced technologies. Identify opportunity for improving productivity and quality in manufacturing including but not limited to; scrap reduction, yield improvements, cost reductions, and overall quality improvement.
- Responsible for supporting and troubleshooting part quality and manufacturing issues related to tooling.
- Create and document standards and specifications for new tools/processes.

**QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in plastics/mechanical engineering and minimum 10 years of related tooling and injection molding experience.
- Solid knowledge of injection and extrusion tool design and production techniques, such as the production effect of flow, temp, speeds, pressures, viscosity, density, etc.
- Knowledge of ANSI drafting standards and ISO geometric tolerance standards is preferred.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing
- ASQ, Six Sigma knowledge and/or certification is preferred, but not required.
- Metrology experience is required
- Prior experience with high volume consumer product industry is a plus
- Excellent multi-tasking and program management skills
- A self starter with a continuous improvement mindset
- Strong problem solving skills and track record with a focus on process and quality improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with team members at all levels are required.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
