Meta is seeking a Head of Public Policy for Pakistan. The person will combine a passion for technology's potential to create opportunity and to connect the community in Pakistan in a safe and responsible manner, with deep knowledge of the political and regulatory dynamics in Pakistan.

This position will be based in Singapore and will report to the Head of Public Policy for South Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor Pakistan for policy issues at the intersection of technology, social media and local developments impacting the growth of digital economy and society
- Work with policymakers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector organizations on issues of digital economy, safety, privacy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns
- Identify policy opportunities and participate in high-level meetings with key stakeholders including policymakers, industry associations and civil society
- Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals on Meta’s services
- Assist in the development and management of Meta’s policies on particular issues or product areas
- Support development and implementation of initiatives in Pakistan that help deepen understanding of technology and technology policy with key stakeholders
- Work with cross functional teams across product, legal, marketing and communications across the company to ensure that Meta products and programs are advancing external understanding around key policy issues
- Develop innovative policy solutions for a variety of policy, legislative and regulatory proposals
- Build and manage creative partnerships with advocacy groups, academia and industry bodies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Law or Public Policy degree with focus on Technology Policy is preferred
- 8+ years of experience in related areas of public policy such as legislation and/or government relations and advocacy
- Keen understanding of political systems and relevant policy and civil society institutions connected to the technology space as well as an understanding of the local context in Pakistan and/or South Asia
- Ability to travel when possible (50% of the time) to the region
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills, excellent communication and persuasive skills, creativity, perspective and the ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Experience in policy advocacy, analysis and/or program leadership for a multi-national corporation or institution
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines.
- team player with a high degree of flexibility and willingness to work on a wide variety of policy and regulatory issues with cross-functional teams.
- Passion for Meta’s products and services, and experience with relevant policy issues, including hate speech, content, privacy, open internet, online safety, digital economy, etc.
- Fluency in one or more South Asian languages (Urdu, Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi) as this role will require frequent engagement with external regulators, govt bodies and outside partners such as NGOs.
