**Brief role description**:
As Chief Strategy Officer Asia Pacific, you will be tasked with driving the product and profile of the agency. Ensuring that Wavemaker Asia Pacific delivers best-in-class strategic plans that push the boundaries, which will require you to win the trust of senior clients, while raising the capabilities of the planning teams across all categories. Likewise, by elevating the team’s strategic capabilities and winning the trust of senior clients, you will in turn drive Wavemaker’s profile across the industry.

In addition, this role sits on the Wavemaker Asia Pacific Executive Committee and will be a key voice in leading the continuing organizational evolution of the company, putting client’s growth at its very heart. This requires a progressive, outward facing presence and mindset.

**Core Responsibilities**:

- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of client businesses and ensure integrated and digital strategies align with brands business objectives and needs.
- Partner with the CEO to develop the credible Wavemaker strategic story for new business presentations, with particular emphasis on telling a simple, differentiated story.
- Use global best practices, cases and learnings, define the strategic standard for ‘What Great looks like’ and align with APAC exco management. To then develop a learning plan to cascade and train all key strategists across the APAC region.
- Grow team’s strategic capabilities and develop sound long term strategic plans for all the key brands.
- Leverage data (digital and otherwise) for the benefit of overall integrated planning
- Be bold; defend and stand your ground in terms of ideas internally and externally.
- Collaborate with core planning teams to ensure optimal integration of solutions in the overall brand plans, ensuring deployment of best-in-class digital implementation across brands. Trusted advisor not just to the client, but for internal touch-points in the local market.
- Experience building successful relationships with C-level executives, particularly CMOs, in matters of strategic substance
- Proven ability to transform business performance and client/customer relationships
- Deep marketing expertise, with focus in the areas of technology, data, digital, CRM or media. Brand-building experience is a plus, but data-driven marketing experience should be the main driver
- An ability to work well and collaboratively with senior peers and other WPP stakeholders
- A natural Storyteller—a highly articulate and persuasive writer and speaker (samples of presentations are required.)
- Demonstrable ability to simplify/ synthesize complex data from a variety of sources and then communicate solutions in a simply fresh perspective. (Give ‘meaning’ to the complex—sees patterns that others don’t yet see.)
- Digitally comfortable—The CSO should be fully versed on the strategic roles of interactive/ digital as well as familiar with predicted evolutions.
- Proven track record as a ‘team player’ —this position requires high amounts of actionable collaboration and ability to coach and inspire. (This is not for the academic or lone-ranger.)
- Ability to challenge conventional thinking** **but in a constructive way.
