Portfolio Analyst Ii

**Position Overview**
Works with Portfolio Managers to monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of RGA’s investment portfolios, assists in the assessment of new investment opportunities, and evaluates performance of internal and external asset managers. Creates and develops tools and reports to inform the portfolio management and investment underwriting process. Portfolio Analysts II have a detailed knowledge of portfolios, mandates, markets, and investment evaluation tools.

**Responsibilities**
- Serves as secondary contact for external manager and segment relationships
- Creates portfolio monitoring, internal manager, external manager, and/or reporting and analysis
- Performs as day to day liaison for internal manager desks
- Sources new investment opportunities, especially in the Asia Pacific market and assists in the assessment of yield enhancement efforts with investment banks and external managers
- Creates, updates, and communicates relative value framework
- Monitors and communicates cash positions and assists in portfolio allocation process
- Resolves compliance management issues and status and performs periodic review of guideline/compliance rules
- Develops and implements new investment system tools to support portfolio management process
- Provides content and materials for quarterly presentations
- Monitors asset liability management reports and makes recommendations
- Answers questions and supports investment solutions
- Screens new investment opportunities by assisting in the primary due diligence, research, and initial review
- Assists in the preparation of new investment approval memos
- Creates regular and ad-hoc portfolio management reports
- Assists Portfolio Manager in compiling data and analysis for portfolio review
- Assists with research projects

**Requirements** Education and Experience**

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance related field
- 2 to 5 years relevant investment related work experience

Preferred:

- MBA, ASA or FSA
- CFA or significant progress towards
- Experience with trade, risk management, and database management software

- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Advanced Excel
- Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
- Advanced understanding of investment/market concepts
- Basic knowledge of asset liability management
- Basic knowledge of portfolio and fixed income analytics (i.e. sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity and term structure of interest rates)
- Basic negotiation skills to assist with internal/external discussions
- Investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
- Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
