**Job Description
- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**
To enhance the business’s ability to generate value for its stakeholders by guiding ongoing improvements to commercial decision making and insights at DBGA, while supporting the critical, value-based, analysis of projects across the wider DT business unit.
**Management of Cyclical Business As Usual**
To provide guidance and review of DBGA Commercial Team’s core deliverables:
- Buy decision
- Pricing decision: Auction opening prices, buy platform prices
- Viewing process
- Reporting to Sales Team during auction cycle
- Post cycle reporting
**Management of Projects**
- Regarding current and future projects:
- Lead the development of the project pipeline
- Allocate responsibility for proposed projects to the Commercial Analysts
- Sit on the Commercial Team Projects (CTP) Steerco, along with the Senior Supply & Demand Manager, the Senior BI Manager and the DT SVP Product Planning & Delivery; a body which decides whether projects should progress, be parked or terminated
- Review project deliverables
- Current projects include the following: _
- Channel optimisation
- Viewing assortment data collection
- Demand forecasting and automation
- PowerBI dashboard conversion
- Customer feedback and action loop
- Automation of reserve price setting
- Viewing days optimisation
- Reverse RtoP
**DBGA Management**
- Participate in DBGA Management Committee meetings, attended by DT SVP Product Planning & Delivery
- Present at the DBGA Team+ meeting, attended by EVP DT, to feedback on performance in Team Commercial and to establish contributions required by other teams
**SHE, Risk Management and Business Integrity**
- Ensure corporate governance requirements in technical, assurance, occupational health and safety, and environment are in place for projects and all staff (contract and permanent) and that equipment complies with governance, safety, and security standards and policies.
- Liaise with relevant management functions to ensure all relevant governance and assurance protocols are observed
- Ensure timely and appropriate incident reporting, management and investigation and implement required remedial action to maintain and restore standards
- Implement and participate in SHE campaigns as scheduled
- Participate in risk assessment processes
- Qualifications
- Educated to bachelor’s degree level
- A post graduate qualification incorporating modelling and valuation preferred
**EXPERIENCE**:At least 5 years in a commercially focused role
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**:
Knowledge:
- The composition and characteristics of the diamond value chain, from exploration to consumer
- The characteristics of the sales channels currently used by De Beers Group, including a detailed understanding of the auction channel
Technical skills:
- Advanced business / financial modelling
- Ability to generate and/or review formal written research reports
- High proficiency in MS Excel / Powerpoint
- A working understanding of business intelligence & visualization tools e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Microstrategy, Salesforce
- A working understanding of web-scripting / data-mining solutions
Soft skills:
- Reviewing: As well as picking up the processes executed, controls adherence and the detailed consistency checks, ensuring the key outcomes are reasonable
- Efficient and effective delegation: The ability to provide the right level of guidance, and accepting a solution which is different from the one you would have generated
- Succinct, persuasive communication skills: Appreciate the need for crisp “elevator pitch” arguments when engaging with senior stakeholders
- Network building: Ability to build a cross functional network, and an appreciation of the contribution of individuals with different skillsets
- Commercial acumen: Familiarity with the short, medium and long term incentives that parties within the diamond value chain (both internal and external to De Beers Group) are driven by, and how those incentives manifest in the information they provide
