DESIGNATION : Counsellor, Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Counselling Services
- Provides individual and group counselling for the university community
- Provides crisis intervention services
- Conduct professional sharing on the school counselling services and intervention support for faculty and staff
- Develops, implements, and evaluates outreach and/or psycho-educational programmes that address psychological needs and concerns, personal development, and psychological wellness
- Partner with different stakeholders e.g. FSC, MOE, MOH to offer supports to students
- Assists with the referral of students to resources on and off campus
- Provides services consistent with professional ethical standards and standards of practice
- Other clinical duties appropriate to the position, as assigned
- Peer Helper Programme
- Conduct training and provide coaching for the SMU Peer Helpers
- Peer Helpers (PH) Crisis Response Team (CRT) recruitment and orientation
- Design and conduct of surveys
- Participate in the interview sessions including taking notes and summarizing discussion and decisions
- Conveying outcome to all interviewees
- Preparing and participating in the orientation of the selected Peer Helpers
- Monthly Newsletters
- Research on focus topic for each month
- Preparing the monthly newsletters including writing, editing and any other tasks related to developing and creating the newsletter
- Workshop
- Preparation and administrative support (pre and post event)
- Content development
- Liaising with external speakers, including search for speaker, discussions with speaker on workshop objectives and outcomes, final agreed proposal
- Marketing, creating and sending out promotional materials after approvals
- Conducting dry runs of the workshops
- All administrative tasks related to the workshop including monitoring registrations, preparing meeting, sending confirmations, collating attendance and feedback.
- Facilitation of workshops
- Mental Health Awareness Week and events
- Participate in marketing the events including sourcing for collaterals, liaising for vendors, creating marketing materials e.g. electronic mailers, posters
- Participate in developing the programme for the events including sourcing for prizes, brainstorming event themes, deliberating on programme flow, and planning workshops
- Facilitating workshops at the events
- Any other duties as assigned by Head

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Masters in Counselling or related disciplines (social work, psychology, etc)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in a diversified environment
- Preferably a registered practitioner with Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers or Singapore Psychological Society
- Possess knowledge and experience in therapeutic frameworks and social service community resources
- Competent in case management and crisis management
- Experienced in developing and conducting training and workshops for students and faculty
- Experienced in group work facilitation; working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in conducting risk assessment (eg suicide, family violence) and safety planning with clients
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Good co-ordination and organizational skills
- Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to adapt to changes and able to work as a team or independently
- Flexible, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines
- Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve the university goals
