DESIGNATION : Counsellor (11-month contract), MWKLSWC

RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre (MWKLSWC)
- Counselling Services
- Provide individual and group counselling for the university community
- Provide crisis intervention services
- Collaborate with different stakeholders, including external agencies e.g. FSC, MOE, MOH, to offer support to students
- Assist with the referral of students to resources on and off campus
- Provides services consistent with professional ethical standards and generally accepted standards of practice
- Other clinical duties appropriate to the position, as assigned
- Peer Helper Programme
- Conduct training and provide coaching for the SMU Peer Helpers
- Workshops
- Preparation and administrative support (including pre and post event)
- Conceptualise and develop content, objectives and outcomes
- Engage and liaise with external speakers
- Create promotional materials and market event on various platforms
- Conducting dry runs of the workshops
- All administrative tasks related to the workshop from registration to collecting feedback
- Facilitation of actual workshops
- Any other duties as assigned by Head of the centre

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Masters in Counseling or related disciplines (social work, psychology)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in a diversified environment
- Preferably a registered practitioner with Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers or Singapore Psychological Society
- Possess knowledge and experience in therapeutic frameworks and social service community resources
- Competent in case management and crisis management
- Experienced in developing and conducting training and workshops for students and faculty
- Experienced in group work facilitation
- Experience in conducting risk assessment (eg suicide, family violence) and safety planning with clients
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Good co-ordination and organizational skills
- Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and in a diverse community
- Adaptable to changes and able to work in a team or independently
- Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve the university goals
- Flexible, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines
