Senior Industrial Designer

Vista Musical Instruments is an innovative, global collective of music-related brands dedicated to building meaningful products and experiences for the music community. Brands include MONO, Teisco, Harmony, Heritage Guitars and Swee Lee. Vista Musical Instruments is headquartered in Singapore, with operations in USA, UK and APAC, and is a division of Caldecott Music Group.

We are looking for a Senior Industrial Designer to join our MONO products team. The position will contribute to create innovative and visually appealing designs for products that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and align with user needs and market trends. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, marketers, and manufacturers, to develop concepts, prototypes, and final designs for various consumer products, equipment, or industrial goods.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Concept Development:

- Conduct research to understand user needs, market trends, and technological advancements related to the product category.
- Generate creative ideas and concepts for new product designs, considering functionality, ergonomics, aesthetics, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Create sketches, mood boards, and renderings to visually communicate design concepts and facilitate discussions

2. 3D Modeling & Prototyping:

- Develop 3D models and virtual prototypes using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure the feasibility of design concepts and make necessary adjustments to achieve functional integrity.
- Create physical prototypes using various materials and techniques, enabling evaluation of form, fit, and function.
- Communicate with various suppliers for prototyping

3. Design Detailing and Specification:

- Refine and develop detailed design solutions based on selected concepts, considering materials, manufacturing processes, and cost constraints.
- Create technical drawings/specifications, and documentation required for manufacturing, including dimensions, tolerances, and assembly instructions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to address any design-related challenges during the design process.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, manufacturers, to ensure effective collaboration and alignment throughout the design process.
- Present design concepts and proposals to stakeholders, explaining design rationale and addressing feedback or concerns.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to select appropriate materials, finishes, and production techniques.

5. Design Evaluation & Iteration:

- Conduct usability tests, user studies, and market research to gather feedback on product designs and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze and interpret feedback and data to inform design iterations and optimize product performance and user experience.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and manufacturing processes to incorporate innovative design elements into products.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field
- Industrial Designer or Product Designer with at least 3 years of experience
- Proficiency in CAD software Rhino 3D, Keyshot or equivalent
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and production techniques relevant to the industry
- Experience with soft goods, clothing, bags, luggages, lifestyle products is a plus
- Strong sketching and visualization skills to communicate design concepts effectively
- Understanding of ergonomic principles, human factors, and user-centered design approaches
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative design solutions
- Attention to detail and a high level of craftsmanship in design execution
- The role is based in Singapore
