We are looking for a R&D Process Engineer to plan, organize and perform a broad range of research and/or development activity by utilizing a high level of advanced, specialized knowledge to create differentiating technology while using professional judgment with mínimal supervision.

**A day in the life of...**
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve multiple objectives, including, but not limited to:

- Plan, organize and perform trials and experiments (bench-top, pilot plant, and factory scale) as required to complete process and product development projects.
- Drive product and process conceptualization, development and scale-up.
- Interface on a project implementation team by assisting with hand-off from development to start-up and providing technical training as required to the operating company personnel
- Function as a project team leader as assigned. Required activities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide effective project leadership and be mentored by technology champions as needed for development.
- Fulfilling all requirements of the Product Development Process and Nestec regarding “absolute” deliverables for each phase.
- Complete all required documentation and project reporting in a timely manner
- Adherence to Company policy on protection of patent rights and intellectual property.
- Further develop R&D expertise and competence in the manufacture of pet food (dry, wet, treats) including the monitoring and evaluation of new technologies.
- Research and propose R&D projects utilizing technical innovations/renovations applicable to Nestlé Purina’s business strategy.
- Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports
- Further develop R&D expertise and competence in the manufacture of pet food (dry, wet, treats)
- Provide a resource to the Business that can be used to coordinate the building of new or the renovation of existing pet food facilities
- To provide an additional and credible source of Technical Support to the Markets
- Develop Nestlé Purina’s core competence in all areas of pet food manufacturing by monitoring and evaluating new technologies
- Develop particular knowledge in the areas of pet food manufacturing
- Maintain and improve upon the communications between R&D and external contacts
- Possess a recognized expertise and keep current in engineering discipline
- Propose and execute projects utilizing technical innovations/renovations that may be applicable to Nestlé Purina’s business strategy
- Actively acts as an expert consultant within Nestlé Purina and Nestlé in area of technical expertise
- Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and counterparts at other Nestlé operations
- Training of personnel from the client companies and within the Center as required
- Expected to support business request and provide inputs autonomously
- Travel up to 30% depending upon project and trial needs. Majority of travel will be regional and international
- Practice safety in the work area

**What will make you successful**
- B.S. in Engineering
- A minimum of five years experience in a similar field
- Manufacturing experience within a production, engineering and maintenance role
- Specialized knowledge in food processing or preferably meat processing experience is preferred
- Broad range of technical knowledge outside area of specialty
- Skilled in quality assurance
- Skilled in data analysis
- Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Must be able to manage multiple projects/priorities
- Pro-active/Self-Starter
- Good sense of business/technical interrelationships
- Computer literacy
