EAST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY SINGAPORE BRANCH is a branch office of the well-known listed Japanese company, East Japan Railway Company (“the Headquarters”) in Japan which is operating mainly a rail-based transportation business as well as a wide range of businesses related to the rail-based transportation system. Our main aim is to support the overseas railway business of the headquarters by discovering and developing new railway businesses, researching railway-related information and supporting the railway-related businesses of JR East group companies in Singapore, other Southeast Asian countries and Oceania.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
The position of Director is responsible for conducting research and report on overall rail maintenance especially on tracks and promoting a state of art rail technologies and services at international conferences and exhibitions in rail industry, by liaison and coordination between the branch and the rail business divisions of the headquarters or overseas group companies.
This position reports directly to Executive Director and conducts the support of the branch's other teams' activities like human development with its expertise and experience, and also assisting the headquarters in the formation of future rail projects in Southeast or South Asia and Oceanian countries.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
**Job Description**:
- Conducting professional research and data updating information on track maintenance or construction, overall rail operations and maintenance collaborating with subsidiary or local companies, and report to the headquarters regularly.
- Collecting new railway project or tender information in Southeast or South Asia and Oceanian countries, and providing it to the headquarters or group company.
- Liaison function with local partners when there is a request from the headquarters for rail project or business development in Southeast or South Asia and Oceanian countries.
- Overall planning and coordination to promote Japan rail technology and services especially on track work or maintenance and rail equipment at international conferences and exhibitions.
- Sharing expertise knowledge and best practices with the business development team and assisting in the research and promotion activities.
- Assisting in the training activities and program development with the administration team on new hires onboarding training.
- Working closely with Head Office’s facility or related business partners (schedule adjustments with customers, etc.) on travel schedules.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Civil Engineering or related field.
- With more than 5 years of experience in track maintenance.
- With more than 3 years of human resources planning and development.
- Possess strong knowledge and understanding the international bidding process of overseas railway project.
- Possess deep knowledge and wide experience in both the headquarters and branch offices reporting.
- Possess Japanese ability equivalent to Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPTN1) as the role requires working closely with the Headquarters’ railway business team, facility or related business partners.
- Must possess strong analytical skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess knowledge and experience in construction management is preferable.
- Proven leadership and management abilities to strategize, prioritize, lead, inspire and motivate a team.
- Possess strong networking ability externally and internally.
- Independent, mature and self-motivated.
