Primary Purpose of the Position

The Demurrage Analyst is responsible for review, analysis and negotiation of shipping and counterparty demurrage/ancillary claims in accordance with the demurrage and ancillary processes for Ampol Group. The aim is to help Traders and Charterers to avert any potential pitfalls (unwarranted costs) and improve economic outcomes for Ampol Group.

**Critical Accountabilities & Outcomes**

**Track Ampol shipments to determine demurrage exposure and areas for recovery**
- Process and analyse each shipment’s summary of movements to identify opportunities to recover demurrage.
- Work closelyw ith the Cargo and Vessel Operators to gather the information required for demurrage assessment and defend demurrage claims.
- Keep track of payables and receivables and provide monthly updates to the Commercial teams and management regarding outstanding claims.

**Managing demurrage payables with Owners and Counterparties directly or via Brokers**
- Review and develop demurrage assessment.
- Negotiate the claim to generate a positive outcome for Ampol Group.

**Managing demurrage receivables with third parties and obtaining payment**
- Calculate, generate and send demurrage claims.
- Develop relationship to help recovery and minimise outstanding payments.

**Collaboration with Trading, Chartering, Contract and Operations**
Identify and suggest new areas and ways to negotiate recoveries.

Provide advisory to Traders and Charterers regarding non favourable terms.

**Maintain demurrage/ancillary data** integrity in Demurrage Hub, IMOS and Allegro
- Update the relevant shipping information in IMOS.
- Review the shipments information and record costs in Demurrage Hub and Allegro.

**Management of demurrage ancillary functions**
- Includes management of invoicing, interfacing with accounts teams and 3rd parties.

**Key stakeholders and relationships of the role**
- Traders / Charterers
- Cargo / Vessel Operators & Schedulers
- Contract / Legal
- Settlements / Trade Accounting

**Qualifications**
- Essential: Tertiary qualifications related discipline
- Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Maritime, Engineering or Business

**Experience**
- Essential: minimum 3 years of experiences
- Desirable: Commercial experience in the shipping (tanker), oil industry and/or petroleum trading companies in areas such as cargo / shipping operations

**Knowledge & Skills**
- Essential: Good understanding in IMOS, Excel (Pivot table, V Lookup, etc.) and commercial contractual terms
- Desirable: Familiarity with Petroleum GT&Cs and Shipping GT&Cs such as BP GTC, Shell Voy 6, etc.
