**Job Purpose**:
Acting as the site environmental, health and safety manager, ensure site management is aware of and compliant with statutory requirements, permits and obligations.

Ensure the site is up-to-date with the latest environmental, health and safety ideas, trends and practices, including behavioural and cultural aspects.

Maintain and continuously improve environmental and safety management systems to ISO14001 and HS(G)65 respectively.

Act as the interface and maintain communication with external stakeholders (e.g. local authority regulators, certification bodies, neighbours etc.).

**Responsibilities**:
To ensure all functions on site (Operations, R&D, commercial / technical and other business support teams) are suitably trained and motivated to maintain compliance with and seek continuous improvement of all relevant environmental, health and safety legal and other obligations.

Specific Health and Safety management:
To ensure appropriate risk management systems operate.

To ensure appropriate investigation of accidents and incidents, including corporate and regulator notification if required.

To maintain and continuously improve the site safety management system (SMS), based on HS(G)65.

To act in a supporting role on the site Health and Safety Committee.

To prepare KPIs, reports and statistics on performance for management information.

To participate in relevant regulator, insurance and other external body inspections and investigations.

To ensure suitable emergency plans and procedures are maintained, including liaising with the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

To ensure adequate First Aider provision is maintained.

To liaise with HR and Occupational Health on matters affecting occupational health.
