Luminate is a global foundation working to ensure that everyone - especially those who are underrepresented - has the information, rights and power to influence the decisions that shape society. Luminate’s work focuses on enabling people to fully participate in civic and political life, to safely challenge power, and to access accurate, trustworthy information. Across our work, we seek to ensure that technology works for and not against democracy.

Our regional work is focused on Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We also support transregional work and initiatives that complement, enable, and strengthen our partners' work in the regions. Our work to address digital threats to democracy - which is undertaken by Luminate Strategic Initiatives - is primarily focused on Europe and the US.

We take a flexible approach to philanthropy, prioritising impact and using the most appropriate tools in any situation. These include funding existing organisations and projects, supporting others’ new ideas and initiatives, seeding new solutions where none currently exist, and undertaking our own projects and initiatives drawing on our teams’ experience and expertise.

Luminate was established in 2018 by philanthropists Pierre and Pam Omidyar. Before this, the team had worked for over a decade on issues related to governance and citizen engagement as part of Omidyar Network. To date, Luminate has supported more than 380 organisations around the world with more than $427 million.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to become our Vice President: Strategic Functions. Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President: Strategic Functions will play a key role in driving forwards the evolution and implementation of our new five-year strategy. You will lead the Strategic Functions Team including Strategy & Insights, Impact & Learning, People, Culture & Global Support and Strategic Communications & Brand and in doing so will inspire and connect people to drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple teams and organisations.
