Chef Job Description

We are looking for a Chef to join our team and prepare delicious meals for our customers.

Chef responsibilities include studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes. You should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner. Also, you should be familiar with sanitation regulations. If you have experience with advanced cooking techniques and non-traditional ingredients, we’d like to meet you.

Ultimately, you’ll prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our guests

Chefs perform various functions in restaurants and hotels that ensure meals are prepared and presented to customers satisfactorily.

- Must be able to work rotating shifts/split shifts and work on weekends and public holidays if necessary (off days on weekday) Must be able to stand for long hours and work for extended hours.
- Must be able to do overtime whenever required.
- To cook and prepare authentic South Indian Dishes: different types of food, North Indian Meals etc
- Manage operations, budgeting, food and labour costing, forecasting, stock control, resource planning, staffing, inventory and waste management
- Responsible for planning, directing, controlling, coordinating, training and participating in the food preparation and daily kitchen culinary activities and required standards and specifications
- Maintain good relationship with customers and suppliers (resolving issues with suppliers if any arises)
- Strictly follow and adhere to the budget of the restaurant or hotel, by ensuring that supplies and/or orders are in line with the budget and supervising food and labor cost(s)
- Make sure that kitchen safety measures are met and that sanitation practices are carried out to the letter
- Create new methods and recipes in preparation of meals
- Make sure that the restaurant or hotel keeps up with new trends in the industry
- Maintain work schedule for kitchen staff so as to ensure smooth flow of activities in the kitchen and the restaurant or hotel at large
- Make sure that meal is prepared and served to customers in a timely manner
- Monitor and maintain stock levels so as to place orders for supplies as at when due
- Create menus that tend to suit the need of customers, and in some cases suggest new dishes to customers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Master Degree/degree/diploma
- working experience in Indian kitchen, Preferably with experience in an Indian (North & South) Restaurant/Catering industry and handling in high volume service operations, Able to cook and prepare all South Indian / North Indian dishes inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner items Minimum of at least 2 - 4 years of culinary working experience
- Highly skilled in cooking techniques and comprehensive knowledge of North & South Indian Traditional Authentic cuisines (Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian)
