**Project Title: Fluorescence Microscope Imaging System**

**1) Project brief**

Develop, test and evaluate a Fluorescence Microscope Imaging System. Performance indicators may include illumination uniformity, focus quality, magnification and etc.

**2) Objectives**

Fluorescence Microscope is an important instrument used in the field of life science and bio-medical. In a fluorescence microscope, there are two main sub-system, the excitation illumination and the fluorescence imaging. This project aims to develop a Fluorescence Microscope Imaging System with in-house developed excitation illumination source and fluorescence imaging architecture.

**3) Scope**

a) Learn about performance parameters and common test methods of illumination source.

b) Learn about performance parameters and common test methods of optical imaging system.

c) Design and set up test systems, which include designing mechanical housing and aligning optical components.

d) Perform hands-on testing using existing test setups in the lab.

e) Learn about image processing algorithms.

f) Develop Python/MATLAB scripts to process and analyze test images.

g) Scale the test method by automating data collection and data analysis
