Lab Analyst 1

**Purpose**

The Lab Analyst has to keep proper inventory control of reference standards, reagents and chemicals, apparatus, etc. required in the analytical work and initiate purchase or order. He/she is required to write short technical reports on investigating internal failure or non compliance.

**Key areas of accountabilities/responsibilities**
- Ensuring smooth running of the routine analytical work in the QC laboratory in accordance with Safety, GLP, ISO standards and SOPs
- Ensures premixes and raw materials and any other related timely so that they can be released according to the agreed datelines
- Analyses the premixes, raw materials, and any other related samples in accordance with authorized approved procedures
- Updates results into LIMS system and other quality control test data. Assists in processing data and statistical charting
- Follows proper documentation and ensures test records are signed and filed in place
- Ensure good quality of analytical results by conducting scheduled calibration and maintenance & performance verification of instruments and equipment, participating in sample check program and the correct use of reference materials or standards.
- Carries out goods inspection, issues status labels and other sample documentation or SAP update where assigned
- Perform good housekeeping and cooperate with co-workers on glassware cleaning and other lab cleaning duties
- Maintains proper inventory records and initiates purchases. This includes liaising with suppliers for better quotations
- Works with Lab Supervisor in carrying out laboratory investigation of premix samples in terms of OOS.
- Works with Chemist in validating test method or troubleshooting instruments
- Covers specific task of other analyst in their absence
- Provides some coaching to new lab analysts and interns
- Helps to identify and solve problems encountered during his/her daily operations/ He/she is required to inform any problems and consult Senior Lab Analyst, Chemist or Lab Supervisor
- Performs any other duties not defined in this job description when called upon to do so by line management
- Conducting test and checks and prioritize testing using LIMS or according to schedule
- Conducting re-test and lab investigation
- Arrangement for waste disposal
- Housekeeping and cleaning of work area/instrument
- Initiate tab stock replenishment
- Evaluation of performance verification results of test equipment
- Handles toxic chemicals, corrosive acids and alkali, flammable solvents and hot materials while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment

**The Ideal**
- Should possess a Diploma in Chemical Processes, Food Science or similar field of study
- Preferably with some work experience in QC lab field involving testing of chemicals
- Preferably has experience in operating chromatographic instrument and ICP/AAS
- Fresh diploma graduates are welcome to apply
