**Job Purpose Statement**
Responsible for the smooth, safe, and efficient operations of the laboratory by overseeing all aspects of laboratory operations including budgeting, equipment, staff, supplies procurement, software, documentation, compliance, quality improvement, technical and personnel activities in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
**Responsibilities**
- Manage and oversee the clinical laboratory’s day to day operation and administrative role, with focus on safety, quality, productivity and compliance.
- Maintain the laboratory safety standards and oversee the quality assurance activities, and ensure the laboratory remains in compliance with applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies (MOH & CAP).
- Manage periodic internal, external, regulatory and accreditation audits (MOH, CAP, etc.)
- Manage the development and implementation of all laboratory processes, workflow and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and procedures across all laboratory functions.
- Lead the validation, evaluation and implementation of new laboratory test methodologies.
- Assist technical team in the development, validation and implementation of new diagnostic tests.
- Oversee the maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal instruments performance.
- Ensure the adoption of lean concept across all laboratory functions to achieve operational and cost efficiencies.
- Responsible for inventory management, expense tracking, quality assurance activities and updating laboratory protocols, investigation, and documentation of adverse incidents.
- Review, interpret and report patients results reliably, accurately and with integrity.
- Liaise with clients such as clinicians, laboratory managers, health care professionals, supervisors on test services, costs, charges, reimbursements, workflows, troubleshooting, policy changes and implementation of new tests.
- Supervise a team of medical technologists and manage their performance.
- Mentor and coach staff, identify relevant trainings and manage staff career expectations and facilitate career progression.
- Additional duties as assigned.
**Qualifications & Pre-requisites**:
- BSc in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
- At least 10 years’ of clinical laboratory experience in supervisory/management role.
- Ability to organise, communicate, teach, and work with others in an effective matter.
- Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in clinical laboratory work.
- Knowledge of local regulations, standards, guidelines and requirements of a clinical reference laboratory.
- Analytical thinking and good communication skills.
- Knowledge in the operations and workflow of a medical laboratory.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office tools is essential.
- Good organization and planning skills.
