Lead Engineer

**Job Description Summary**: Role Summary/Purpose
- Provide technical leadership in support of business development.
- Provide technical leadership on allocated projects, in support of the Business Segments working alongside the Business Segments’ project management teams.
- Ensure that all technical requirements on allocated projects are met.
- Lead and coordinate design teams to meet project objectives (quality, cost, delivery).
- Provide the key technical interface to the customer.
- Identify and propose improvements in processes, tools and system solutions, rolling out improvements when agreed with leadership team.

**Essential Responsibilities**
- As leader of multi-disciplined project teams, deliver full systems (including power generation and distribution, protection, power conversion, motors and energy stores, control and automation) ensuring the overall design meets customer, contract and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and progress all design, test and commissioning activities for specific projects, inclusive of communication to team members.
- Establish and maintain engineering quality control system for the project.
- Establish and manage contract design documentation. Also produce design documentation as necessary.
- Monitor, control and manage engineering budgets and change control system.
- Liaise with Platform Engineering, Technology and Value Engineering, and Supply Chain as appropriate in order to support the project and the business.
- Liaise with other GE businesses, sub-contractors and suppliers as appropriate in order to support the project and the business.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to the overall project team as appropriate including Commissioning and Service.
- Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions for projects.
- Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate across the function including, Sales and ComOps for sales support with providing technical assistance to tendering

**Qualifications / Requirements**

The successful person would:

- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college / university in Electrical Engineering or Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Possess at least 7 to 10 years’ experience in a similar site-based role within power, utilities, offshore oil and gas and/or marine sectors.
- Draw on their excellent communication skills, to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders
- Technical knowledge on Industrial Power Conversion equipment like generators, switchboards, transformers, converters, motors, energy storage, cabling etc.
- Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction on offshore unit such as FPSO etc.
- Experience in design engineering, field engineering, manufacturing, shop assembly or spares/ replacement parts involvement.
- Experience in O&G or offshore or Marine or Metal industry or Renewables
- Ability to read and write technical specifications.
- Excellence in Customer Service
- Commercial awareness.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.

**Desired Characteristics**
- Experience
- Electrical engineering in Marine /Offshore Oil & Gas / Naval / Defence industry.
- Marine electrical power and propulsion systems. Experience of interpreting power system studies such as: LV & MV Protection & Co-ordination / Voltage drop / dip calculations / Load flow and fault studies / Transient system and scenario analysis / Harmonic (VTHD) calculations / MV & LV power system cabling (cable selection, rating etc.) / Quality of Power Supply / EMC
