Country Head

Our Client is a Container Liner Operator registered in Singapore and in operation since 2001.

In the past two decades, the Group has grown multi-fold and now provides Container Liner shipping services ranging from China on the east to Saudi Arabia in the west, spanning across several South-East Asian countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia, and India sub-continent and inland locations across these countries.

Its Freight Forwarding division has also seen dramatic growth in handling cargoes ranging from agricultural commodities to luxury yachts.

The Company is seeking a high calibre individual to complement the Group’s existing professional team of managers for its next journey of growth and to drive key growth initiatives for the liner and freight forwarding businesses.

**COUNTRY HEAD (Container Liner Operator)**

**Position **:Country Head

**Reports to **:Chief Executive Officer

**Number of Reports **:9 (3 x direct / 6 x indirect)

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the overall growth and profitability of liner agency and freight forwarding businesses and ensuring commercial, operational and financial standards/targets are met, including but not limited to:

- Achieve and outperform volume and revenue budgets/forecasts under Liner Agency and Freight Forwarding businesses.
- Manage and retain existing customer base and grow new customer base with a view for year-to-year business and profitability growth.
- Enhance customer service experience
- Maintain good relationship with vendors, feeder operators/agents, local shipping fraternity, other NVOCCs and / or competitors, and report prevailing market sentiments and developments to Principal on a timely manner in the form of market and sales analysis.
- Exercise due diligence in cost cutting measures, improving operational efficiencies and maintaining strong credit and cost control culture.
- Manage working capital of the business.
- Strategize and plan with Principal on initiatives to grow the client’s brand name;
- Travel for targeted customer visits and/or trade related fairs;
- Lead in budgeting and forecasting activities;
- Motivate team members to work cohesively to achieve KPIs;
- Identify and groom key member(s) for internal career progression.

**Core competencies**

**Appropriate level of education, knowledge and working experience**:
**Education and Knowledge**
- Graduate degree from a university of repute, preferably in Maritime/Logistics or similar qualifications;
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience in container liner shipping business and in freight forwarding business;
- Demonstrable track record of leadership to be successful for this role;

- Observably self-motivated with aspirations to grow with the organisation;
- Possesses humility, maturity, and situational sensitivity;
- Strong interpersonal skills when interfacing with senior management across the organization and liaising with external audiences;
- High attention to details;
- Strong display of flexibility to change in turbulent situations
- Task oriented and focused.
