Purpose
- To provide to the Singapore, Thailand and SEA motor unit(s) (“Units”) all necessary legal advice and support in a timely and practical manner, such as in relation to their operations, contracts, compliance, complaints, disputes and/or litigation matters.
- To work on any other matter(s) as may be assigned by the Head of Legal, Motors and/or Senior Legal Counsel.

- To draft, review, negotiate and advise on agreements, forms, tenders and other documents to ensure that the Singapore, Thailand and SEA motor unit(s) (“Units”) are adequately informed of the risks and obligations to be undertaken, to ensure that commercial objectives are achieved and to minimize or mitigate any potential legal risks.
- To draft, review and advise on replies to complaints from customers, which may include correspondence from lawyers and other relevant agencies.
- To manage disputes involving the Units, which may include handling and advising on pre-litigation negotiations, handling and advising on Small Claims Tribunals claims, and drafting and reviewing court documents (e.g. statements of claim and/or defence, witness statements and submissions). To work with and to manage external law firms where appointed.
- To provide legal support for new business proposals and existing businesses in the region, including advising on regulatory requirements, drafting and advising on responses to inquiries from regulators and government agencies, preparing legal opinion memoranda, and reviewing Board papers.
- To carry out compliance related activities involving the Units, which may include assisting to carry out compliance questionnaires and surveys, drafting and advising on responses to internal and external auditors’ inquiries, working with the Units on proposals to close compliance gaps, drafting and/or adapting compliance guidelines, and attending to any other compliance related requests and projects as may be assigned.
- To carry out such other duties as may be required, such as procuring legal services, conducting training, providing periodic updates on ongoing matters, managing hard copy files and/or electronic filing system, and updating the litigation database.
- To work on any other matter(s) as may be assigned by the Head of Legal, Motors and/or Senior Legal Counsel.
**Requirements**:
- Education:_
- Degree in Law (LLB / JD) from a recognised university
- Admission as Advocate and Solicitor to the Singapore Bar is essential
- Professional Experience:_
- Have post qualification working experience of 5 - 7 years as an advocate and solicitor and/or legal counsel after admission to the Singapore Bar. Prior in-house experience will be viewed favourably
- Have excellent technical skills, with experience drafting, reviewing and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements (such as tenancy agreement, supply agreement, service agreement, and confidentiality/ non-disclosure agreement)
- Have experience managing disputes including handling and advising on pre-litigation negotiations, drafting and reviewing court documents, drafting for and advising on matters in the Small Claims Tribunals and other administrative tribunals
- Competencies:_
- Able to work autonomously with mínimal supervision
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with people across all levels and from different disciplines and background
- Able to advise and negotiate in a commercially minded and tactful manner that advances the Unit(s)’ interests while preserving commercial relationships
- Able to work under tight deadlines and committed to achieving commercial objectives
- Able to manage the expectations and requirements of the Units in a timely, professional, and adequate manner
- Proactive individual with an analytical mind, an eye for detail and sound knowledge of Singapore laws
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Curious and keen to understand about our business
