**About the Role**:
- Reporting to the Vice President Sales and Marketing Coal you will provide leadership to the team accountable for our New South Wales Energy Coal Sales portfolio. You will be responsible for forming and executing a value generative sales strategy while demonstrating a risk aware culture. You will also maintain and build relationships with our asset, our customers, and other critical internal and external stakeholders. The book enjoys a degree of independence and provides a great opportunity to expand your leadership potential spanning a range of dimensions - from long term strategy and planning to short term book management and customer engagement.
- In this role you will:
- Lead a high-performing team, provide coaching and mentoring, and pursue operating perfection (leveraging BHP Operating System (BOS))
- Foster strong and collaborative relationship with our asset
- Build and maintain relationships with our customers and other internal and external stakeholders
- Leverage internal and external networks to gather market intelligence and tests assumptions to drive enhanced commercial decision making and planning
- Provide insights and diverse opinions as a valued member of the Sales and Marketing Coal Leadership Team
- Optimize the value of the energy coal book while considering placement options, commercial levers, operational costs, supply chain capabilities, quality, price, market opportunities and risks
- Identify and assess risks and make risk-informed decisions in support of safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Make commercial decisions in the environment of uncertainty with relative high degree of independence
**About You**:
- We welcome applicants with strong commercial skills and ability to influence and effectively communicate with various stakeholders. We also welcome applicants who can lead change, coach, mentor, and motivate people and teams. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in a commercial, economic, analytical, technical and/or similar relevant business discipline
- Prior experience in sales / marketing in commodity markets
- Prior experience in diverse stakeholder management
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the coal market is highly desirable
- Fluent English (both verbal and written) and preferably Japanese
- Bachelor’s degree in a commercial, economic, technical and/or relevant business discipline
