About the Role
The Conflicts Manager reports to Global Heads of Business Acceptance and supports the Singapore office. Its tactical responsibilities feed one larger objective: Ensuring effective workflow and rapid response to conflicts resolution issues. Primary responsibilities include:
- Supervising a team of conflict analysts
- Ensuring effective workflow and rapid response to conflicts resolution issues
- Assisting with the development and integration of new processes and technology affecting the teaM/Firm
- Being the first escalation point for the team on conflicts issues of a medium complexity
- Monitoring ongoing development needs of team members and providing training and support
- Validating and vetting information provided by liaison with fee-earners to clarify and obtain additional information
- Reviewing and/or undertaking database searches and ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Analysing and interpreting complex search results from information in the firm's conflicts systems and other internal or external systems to ascertain any conflict of interest
- Liaising with fee earners to highlight or identify potential conflicts of interest relating to new matters and clients across all practice areas of the firm
- Escalating any complex conflict situations to the Global Heads of Business Acceptance
- Assisting in the setup and maintenance of information barriers
- Developing current knowledge of the legal/regulatory/commercial requirements relevant to the Business Acceptance Department
- Assisting in the continual education of the firm in conflicts processes and policies raising awareness within the firm
- Other ad hoc requests/projects relating to new business acceptance/conflicts processes
EXPERIENCE
What You Bring
- A degree in Law or Compliance desirable but not essential
- Prior experience in conflicts in legal services or professional services
- Excellent supervisory skills and display strong leadership characteristics
- Self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and patience
- Keen interest in knowing the business and lateral/analytical thinking
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Ability to use initiative with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to manage workflows and delegate tasks as appropriate
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and able to work well under pressure
- Discretion essential to preserve confidential information
- Able to adapt to new processes and technology
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with all levels of legal and support staff
