Senior Consultant, Client Services

Report to Head of Fund Administration Asia, the Senior Consultant - Tt requires the provision of leadership and guidance to colleagues and Northern Trust partners to support AML compliance services aligned to:
1. AML Legislation/Regulation & Guidance/Best Practice in Singapore;
2. Singapore Investor AML processes and procedures; and

3. Northern Trust’s Compliance, Risk and Audit programs.

In addition, the Senior Consultant is also responsible for overseeing the performance of the Transfer Agent to ensure that the subscriptions, redemptions, exchanges, transfers and cancellations of capital stocks; as well as fund distribution in cash and reinvestment are carried out in accordance with the provision of fund offering document. He/she will ensure that fund register is timely and accurately updated.

The Senior Consultant is required to hold, build and maintain a very strong partnership with the Northern Trust Transfer Agency Department in India, Investor AML Department in Ireland and Singapore Corporate Compliance /MLRO to deliver a robust Investor and AML Compliance service to Northern Trust Singapore’s clients and their fund investors.

**Major Duties**

1. Oversees outsourced functions to ensure timely and accurately completion by Investor AML partners in Ireland including tasks processed through Northern Trust’s workflow process; transaction monitoring and screening alerts; periodic investor documentation reviews and investor transitions into and out of Northern Trust.

2. Oversees the processing of subscriptions, redemptions, exchanges, transfers and cancellations of capital stocks; fund distribution in cash and reinvestment are carried out in accordance with the provision of fund offering document.

3. Ensure performance fee is calculated correctly in accordance with the provision of the fund offering document.

4. Ensures that fund register is timely and accurately updated.

5. Assists Investor AML partners in Ireland in their review of investor documentation, in adherence with Northern Trust’s AML processes and procedures in Singapore, and their efficient highlighting of outstanding investor due diligence documentation (if any), by agreed modes of communication, with professionalism of approach and timely escalation of material issues arising.

6. Assists Investor AML partners in Ireland in their Ongoing Monitoring and Quality Assurance reviews in adherence with Northern Trust’s AML policy and procedures in Singapore and their efficient highlighting and escalation of investor ongoing monitoring issues arising, by agreed modes of communication, with professionalism of approach and timely escalation of material issues arising.

7. Manages responses, and assists in more complex problems and critical issues as escalated by the Investor AML team in Ireland, as well as those received from other Northern Trust partners and/or related external parties.

8. Assists partners within the Investor AML team in Ireland to ensure that all queries from other Northern Trust partners and related external parties are dealt with efficiently and professionally.

9. Takes ultimate ownership for completion of Investor AML compliance support for clients in conjunction with Northern Trust partners in Ireland and other locations and provides regular and meaningful periodic updates to line management and colleagues.

10. Manages the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with clients and partners in other Northern Trust departments including the Investor AML Department in Ireland.

11. Manages the preparation and follow up activity associated with regulator and internal second and third line of defence on site reviews in Singapore or Ireland.

12. Manages the preparation and follow up activities associated with client on site reviews in Singapore or Ireland.

13. Works with Singapore Corporate Compliance and other relevant partners to ensure that the Investor AML function in Singapore meets the required audit, risk and compliance standards as determined, from time to time, in accordance with advised changes in processes and procedures pursuant to amendments in prevailing legislation, guidance and best practice.

14. Maintains an up to date knowledge of Investor AML regulation and good practice in Singapore and uses this knowledge to initiate and promote enhancements to Northern Trust’s AML processes and procedures.

15. Performs additional work where volume or absence requires such workload to be completed.

**Skills / Experience**
- College or University degree holder
- Required language - oral and written English, Chinese (Mandarin is an advantage)
- Knowledge of day-to-day Investor AML processes and procedures and the wider funds administration business
- Previous people management experience will be a plus
- Previous experience in an Investor AML servicing role
- Good technical knowledge on Transfer Agency
