Sommelier

Born from a passion for elevating the dining experience, our restaurant is a celebration of the art and science of food, where time-honoured techniques merge with the modern sophistication of cutting-edge culinary practices. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join our team in our exciting project of a brand new upscale restaurant in the heart of Singapore (Tanjong Pagar).

**Position Overview**: As our Sommelier, you will be responsible for building, curating and managing our wine selection, providing expert recommendations to guests, and overseeing all aspects of our wine service. You will work closely with our culinary team to pair wines with our menu offerings and educate both staff and guests about our wine offerings.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and maintain an outstanding wine list that complements our menu and enhances the overall dining experience
- Source for lesser known quality wines with excellent value
- Stay updated on industry trends and new wine releases to continuously improve our wine selection
- Train and educate staff on wine knowledge, proper service techniques, and food and wine pairings
- Work closely with the culinary team to create wine pairing menus for special events or tasting menus
- Provide personalized wine recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu selections
- Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage
- Maintain inventory of wine glasses and ensuring good condition and cleanliness
- Collaborate with vendors and distributors to source unique and high-quality wines
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations regarding the sale and service of alcohol

**Requirements**:

- Certified Sommelier or higher certification from a recognized wine education program
- Proven experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining restaurant or similar establishment
- Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages, and wine production
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Passion for wine and a commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences
