Insider Inc. launched a global news bureau in Singapore in January 2021. We're a team that thrives on taking on challenges and jumping on the day's biggest news. Insider is hiring a jr. reporter to join the Singapore bureau on a 6-month contract. This contract runs for six months with a monthly salary of SGD 4,500. **It has the potential to convert to a full-time role at 6 months.**

You'll report to the bureau's news editor and work alongside the desk's reporters. On a daily basis, you'll be expected to monitor social media, wires, and global publications for news as it happens, and pitch stories every morning. You'll be writing 2-3 news stories a day in the 300-400 word range, while also working on snappy analysis pieces and feature stories.

On any given day, you could be covering topics ranging from the pending Trump indictment and the war in Ukraine to the latest in regional pop culture. This role has a heavy emphasis on covering US politics. You can expect to support the bureau's reporters with research as well as produce articles under your own byline.
- Is a news hound: You read the news every day, look for fresh angles, and don't stop until you find answers
- Wants to learn on the job and commit to developing their skills as a journalist
- Has a natural curiosity about the world
- Is a generalist who wants to cover news as it happens, no matter the size or the location of the story
- Experience reporting and writing, AP style preferred
- A passion for digital storytelling
- Voracious reading habits
- Familiarity with digital and social media
- Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
- Light HTML and/or Photoshop experience
- Solid proofreading and copyediting skills

This Jr. reporter (contract) position is ideal for **early-career individuals with some newsroom experience.**

Please note: This contract position requires that you are based in Singapore, open to working in part remotely, and** full-time at 40 hours a week, for six months**.
