DESIGNATION : Senior Assistant Director / Associate Director, Marketing & Communications, OA

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with key programme staff and relevant faculty, and manages the development of new gift opportunities related to university-wide and school advancement priorities.
- Oversees and writes or edits advancement documents including: fundraising opportunities and proposals to individuals, foundations and corporations; fund-raising publications; communications materials, such as e-newsletters, cultivation, solicitation and acknowledgment letters.
- Oversees and writes speeches and develops advancement position papers for senior management.
- Produces new content for the OA website.
- Be the knowledge manager of all the advancement materials to ensure consistency in the messaging and cross-pollination of ideas
- Work with the creative agency to produce new communication materials.
- Coordinate the work of advancement communications activities with the Office of Corporate Communications & Marketing.
- Proactively develop and manage, in line with financial targets, a cultivation plan focused on expanding and enhancing fundraising relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor or Master Degree with at least 10 years of working experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications and interpersonal relations skills in order to determine the most effective proposals and presentation materials, persuade institution personnel to accept suggestions and proposals, and to foster effective relationships among the units between funding sources and the university.
- Knowledge of fund-raising techniques including, but not limited to: proposal writing; public relations; prospect research; donor relations and stewardship; volunteer management; and correspondence management.
- Professional level skills in proposal, publications and website development with writing and editing experience preferable for a non-profit organization.
- Skill in writing for a variety of audiences and ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics.
- Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse publics and synthesizing information from many sources with the ability to interact effectively with academic leaders, faculty, donors, civic leaders, and volunteers, and staff at all levels.
- Incumbent may work on a number of diverse projects simultaneously and is expected to meet deadlines on each to ensure accuracy and timeliness of assigned projects, effectiveness of special events, success of fund-raising appeals and attention to details with a high degree of independence.
- He or she must be an articulate and persuasive presenter to large and small groups, possess sound judgment and strong professional presence, as well as a collegial work style that promotes teamwork, creativity and open communication.
- Experience in account/event management, relationship building roles and ability to communicate and work with internal and external senior stakeholders.
- A passion for higher education and the nonprofit sector is highly desirable.
