IT Specialist

**Duties**:
**The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.** **This position is telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy.**

- _Serving as an Information Technology Specialist (IT) responsible for providing platform services automation and support for one or more IT software, platform products, and/or components._

- _Serving as a key player, technical evaluator, and product owner providing timely, authoritative, and sound advice and recommendations on assigned program areas through the managerial chain._

**This position is **eligible for fully remote work** anywhere within the 50 United States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. There is no reporting requirement. The duty station is the authorized telework location (typically your home address) and locality pay is adjusted appropriately. **Qualifications**:

- You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. OPM Qualifications Standards are available at: Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A).
- Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-13.
- Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. **Specialized experience for this position includes**:

- Experience in designing, developing, coding, and configuring infrastructure platforms (e.g.: Wildfly, Tomcat, Apache MQ, etc) to transform and/or modernize platforms; **and**:

- Experience in implementing containers using kubernetes platform (e.g.: Amazon Kubernetes service (EKS), Google Kubernetes Service (GKE), etc.).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

**Education**:
Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level.
