**Position Purpose**
Responsible for compliance and implementation of Ampol vetting criteria for voyage and Time chartered ships. Responsible for vessel clearance/screening process for vessels proposed for Ampol business. Provide 24x7 support to chartering and Cargo operations department in ship screening/clearance process with minimum delay. Regularly inputs/feedback on new industry requirements and upgrading/implementating same in screening process upon approval. Provide support to operations department for various marine matters. Contribute in reviewing Company marine procedures and provide input for continuous improvement.
**Critical Accountabilities & Outcomes**

Accountability is usually the end result of a group of tasks eg: (i) Business Manager - manage the profitability of sales in the allocated territory by ensuring achievement of volume, NAM and EBIT targets & controlling costs. (ii) Operations Manager - manage the terminal infrastructure programmes & capital expenditure through preparation of the 5 year capital plan & ensuring that a properly trained team implements the program in accordance with Australian standards.
**_Accountable for:_**
- Maintain vessel clearance and terminal vetting system for Ampol
Implementation of Ampol minimum vetting criteria and clearance process for vessels proposed for Ampol business to ensure that Ampol standards for marine safety are implemented effectively to achieve incident-free operations. To be able to carry out the assessment of owners/managers SIRE reports and terminal audit reports to ensure proper standards are being maintained and their suitability for use. Required to directly liaise with ship Owners/ship managers for various matters during vessel screening process. Responsible for maintaining and kepping Ampol Vetting Clearance system database updated. Provide regular feedback on the vetting clearance system for continuous improvement.
- Develop, review and control Ampol marine specific operation procedures and policies
Assist in management of all Ampol marine documentation, development of marine procedures and provide support to the cargo operations team on their marine documentation requirements, with focus on standards related to ships on Ampol charter. Provide support to Marine Manager in ensuring all Ampol policies are implemented consistently across businesses. Keep updated with industry requirements and provide feedback/advise on possible changes in international rules/regulations that can impact Company business.
- Manage field and deskstop safety audits, inspection and qualification of Ampol-controlled tanker vessels and barges and loadports related to Ampol’s Trading and Shipping business
Provide required support in Coordinating and managing the auditing of ships and ship owners for Ampol-controlled shipping to ensure they meet or exceed Ampol operating standards.
- Monitor the operational, environmental and safety performance of Ampol time charter vessels, and support the Shipping team in cost management
- Alternate Point of contact for Ampol Marine Incidents and Emergency Management Team
The Vetting Specialist will be part of emergency management team as a back up for Marine Manager for any marine incidents in international waters for Ampol charted vessels, including liasing with all relevant external parties.
- Marine Operations on Call Duties
The Vetting Specialist is expected to be contactable at any time to discuss and resolve vessel clearance issues and incidents. The Vetting Specialist will work with the Ampol Marine team to ensure all leave periods and other coverage for absences is managed effectively.

- Approval of vessels proposed for voyage charter on Ampol business on day to day basis from a technical perspective.
- Part of Owner’s assessment audit team when reviewing TC operators and provide recommendations to Marine Manager.
- Ensure Ampol marine operations meets or exceed standards, including directions to external parties (owners/operators).
- Assist in management of marine risks, including decision making rights during incident response.

Education
- Relevant operational experience.
- Have obtained Master Mariner / Chief Engineer Certificate of Competancy.
