[What the role is]
We are looking for a motivated individual to be part of a team which provides a comprehensive range of in-house legal services to meet CAAS' organizational goals and operational needs and to support the Authority, Management and all CAAS Divisions in carrying out CAAS' functions. These functions include aviation safety and economic regulation, air transport and air-hub/airport development and industry promotion, air navigation services provision, representing Singapore at the International Civil Aviation Organization and other international for and provision of aviation training.
[What you will be working on]
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support in legislation, regulatory and enforcement matters including in prosecution matters.
- Being called upon to assist the legal counsels in supporting CAAS Divisions through providing legal/advisory services on regulatory, contractual and other matters, legislation drafting, enforcement and treaty negotiations, among others, through legal research and other support as well as training and administrative work
- Handling and managing the insurance portfolio of CAAS as part of a team, including and not limited to procuring and ensuring timely renewals, maintenance and administration of insurance policies (property, liability and others) and related procurements, claims handling, and liaising with external stakeholders such as insurance brokers, property valuers, insurers, loss adjustors and lawyers.
- Ensuring compliance in the procurement of external legal services and other procurements as may be necessary.
- To provide advice and support on new and emerging issues in aviation in areas such as aviation sustainability, cyber security, digitization, research and development and artificial intelligence and unanticipated events such as the ongoing pandemic.
- To advise, support and participate in various initiatives and events.
[What we are looking for]
- Relevant training in enforcement, insurance, risk management, law, or related fields
- At least 3 years of relevant experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties as described. If you do not have such prior work experience, your willingness to acquire the requisite knowledge and capability on the job speedily will be a requirement.
- Willing to work hard and under pressure and to handle a wide range of legal work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong time-management and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise critical tasks and willingness to learn
- Relevant IT knowledge and experience
- Prior experience in public sector and/or a strong interest in aviation would be an advantage.
