**Group/Division**

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed. The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with KLA’s system experts to analyze critical system performance requirements and determine key specifications for the optics
- Own and investigate design options, find and optimize the best one by constructing optical models and evaluating optical aberrations, tolerances, light budgets, and other tradeoffs.
- Assemble, align and characterize the optical systems. Correlate optical simulation models with experimental data and further optimize designs accordingly.
- Present and explain technical information to a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and designers
- Work with KLA’s product divisions to implement your optics designs into their inspection and metrology systems

**Qualifications**:

- Ph.D. in optics or physics involving optical analysis
- Able to conduct various sophisticated analysis using one or more simulation tools, such as CodeV, Matlab, LightTools, and Zemax etc.
- Experiences in high-precision optical-alignment and metrology.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience as a technical specialist in developing high performance imaging or sensing technology is an advantage but not a requirement.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Doctorate (Academic) in Optics or Physics
