**Company Overview**
KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Virtually every electronic device in the world is produced using our technologies. No laptop, smartphone, wearable device, voice-controlled gadget, flexible screen, VR device or smart car would have made it into your hands without us. KLA invents systems and solutions for the manufacturing of wafers and reticles, integrated circuits, packaging, printed circuit boards and flat panel displays. The innovative ideas and devices that are advancing humanity all begin with inspiration, research and development. KLA focuses more than average on innovation and in 2019 we invested 15% of sales back into R&D. Our expert teams of physicists, engineers, data scientists and problem-solvers work together with the world’s leading technology providers to accelerate the delivery of tomorrow’s electronic devices. Life here is exciting and our teams thrive on tackling really hard problems. There is never a dull moment with us.
**Group/Division**
The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed. The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.
**Responsibilities**:
- As a key part of CTO SG team, work closely with scientists in CTO US to gain deep understanding of technology and engineering challenges of optics modules serving for critical dimension metrology systems. Replicate the proven system from CTO US, run validation and characteristic measurements and use the learnings towards a more robust design.
- Develop and review specifications, concepts, and designs. Execution of experiments and simulations to predict system performance, working with a team in trade-off studies and investigations required to make major architecture decisions on complex optics modules to achieve desired inspection system performance.
- Own creation and execution of prototype test plans for the entire experimental system and subsystems. This will involve integration of subsystems, testing against design tolerances and specifications, analyzing test data, and generation of reports.
- Resolve inconsistencies between components and subsystems, conduct trade-off studies, identify high-risk areas, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Be an effective communicator and team player while working with other research groups, such as laser systems engineer, mechanical design engineer and electric design engineer, to ensure flawless design, integration and test at the subsystem and system level.
**Requirements**:
- Master's level degree in optics engineering or related with at least 8 years of experience or
- Doctorate (Academic) in optics engineering or related with at least 5 years of experience
- Rich experience as a direct contributor in optical system design and tolerancing (in Zemax OpticStudio and/or CODE V) from concept to fieldable prototype or product.
- Strong fundamental knowledge in multiple areas such as theoretical and experimental knowledge of physical optics, optical metrology, light sources and sensors, signal processing and data analysis.
- Capable and willing to design, build and use optical lab setups as a proof-of-concept benches. Expertise in at least two of the following is required: interferometry, ellipsometry, scatterometry, optical profilometry, EM simulations
- Must have experience of aligning, debugging and characterizing optical systems.
- Must be a good team player
- We offer a competitive, family friendly total rewards package. We design our programs to reflect our commitment to an inclusive environment, while ensuring we provide benefits that meet the diverse needs of our employees.- KLA is proud to be an equal opportunity employer_
