Human Factors Engineering Lead

Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for a Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Lead to support an upcoming Singapore based project. The project is the detailed design phase of a new 'not normally manned' (NNM) oil platform that will be based off the coast of Western Australia. The position is based in Singapore and reports to the Operations Manager - Asset Performance Optimisation.

In this role your accountabilities will include:

- Submit an HFE Plan specifying HFE activities to be conducted including role frameworks such as HFE Specialist, HFE Focal Point and the responsibilities and appropriate reporting lines
- Update HFE Specification and HFE Philosophy as required and deliver HFE design requirements, actions and activities
- Implement actions from the FEED HFE close-out report and coordinate multi-discipline HFE design activities including implementation of HFE philosophy and specifications
- Develop and maintain a ‘live’ HFE Issues Register, ensuring all issues are tracked and closed out as appropriate
- Lead the HFE design implementation and review of HFE to verify that design complies with project HFE standards and any HFE requirements identified through HFE studies
- Provide HFE awareness presentation based on the project HFE specification and deliver HFE training to the design team at the start of project
- Facilitate a Valve Criticality Analysis (VCA) workshop for the facility and engineered packaged equipment and update the Critical Task Inventory
- Facilitate the Safety Critical Task Analysis (SCTA) workshop of identified tasks in the Critical Task Inventory to ensure ALARP design for human performance in the safe operations and maintenance of overall facility
- Develop a SCTA report based on output from the SCTA workshop and ensure actions are implemented into the design and construction
- Provide human factors support to review any identified risks, hazards from Hazard and Effects Management Process (HEMP) activities (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, ALARP demonstrations) that depends on human controls to ensure ALARP in design for human reliability during operation and maintenance
- Lead and guide the design / engineering team to ensure the 30%, 60%, 90% formal 3D model design is developed to meet HFE specifications and provide input during the formal 3D model review sessions
- Review and provide HFE input to material handling studies including platform crane operations and ensure vendor engineered packaged equipment complies with HFE design requirements
- Facilitate review sessions for Project Distributed Control System (DCS) Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphics design using task analysis methods
- Review and provide HFE input to Temporary Refuge (TR), emergency response room, and electrical and instrument rooms on the platform
- Develop an HFE Plan in the construction phase
- the Construction HFE Plan shall include details for verifying HFE compliance during construction, specifying the HFE quality control activities to be conducted and be submitted for approval
- facilitate and provide HFE awareness training to the construction team at the start of Construction phase
- Prepare and submit HFE close-out report for approval
- Provide HFE support in ALARP demonstration

Skills / Qualifications:

- at least 3 years of recent relevant industry experience
- the skills and experience to facilitate HFE design studies and workshop activities for the project
- be Client focused with good relationship building skills
- be highly motivated, self-sufficient individual who also enjoys working as part of a supportive team
- demonstrate a high level of English literacy, report writing skills, and computer proficiency
- a keen interest in working in a collaborative environment
