DESIGNATION : Deputy Head of Teaching and Curriculum (English)

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with the Director of Enrichment to conceptualize, drive and execute strategic initiatives related to the English curriculum.
- Develop and implement an effective English curriculum that aligns with MOE learning goals and EtonHouse’s teaching philosophy to meet diverse needs of our students.
- Monitor and assess the impact and effectiveness of the planned curriculum.
- Evaluate the quality of the curriculum delivery.
- Develop learning improvement plans where necessary, based on the assessments and feedback from teachers, students and parents.
- Conduct regular assessments of students' progress and provide feedback to teachers to ensure that they are meeting learning objectives.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage, motivate students and meet the learning outcomes.
- Plan manpower requirement of teaching and curriculum staff for English department and ensure the quality of the teaching staff aligns with the academy's standards.
- Hire, train, and mentor English teachers to ensure their teaching effectiveness and promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Conduct regular teacher observations and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching performance.
- Provide professional development opportunities for teachers to upgrade their English language teaching skills.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide feedback on their child's progress and discuss ways to support their learning at home.
- Work collaboratively with other department heads and the management team to ensure that the center is meeting its overall goals and objectives.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages academic excellence, curiosity, and critical thinking.
- Take up teaching duties when needs arise, and/or when there is no available manpower to cover regular classes, holidays and special programmes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in English education, attend professional development workshops and conferences, and implement best practices in teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS

**Job Requirements**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience teaching primary school English with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, such as a head of department or curriculum coordinator.
- Strong knowledge of MOE standards and English language pedagogy.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to academic excellence.
- Required to work on four weekdays and one day over the weekend
