**The Role**:
As Head of Engineering at Zaapi, you'll play a vital role in shaping our technology and driving the execution of our product vision. You will both lead our engineering team and as a key member of the leadership team, will work directly with the CEO and other functional leads to set our strategic direction and steer the company towards them.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and mentor a team of ~10 frontend, backend, and QA engineers
- Set strategic goals and objectives for the engineering team
- Monitor KPIs and tech metrics to track performance and find areas for improvement
- Manage the planning, design, development, and deployment of our products
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand the needs of our customers and develop our technology accordingly
- Cultivate an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture that promotes innovation, teamwork, and a high degree of ownership
- Conduct code and design reviews to ensure the quality and functionality of the code
- Oversee the technical architecture of our products and ensure that we are building scalable, secure, and robust solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues or bottlenecks
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new engineering talent

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as a Head of Engineering, Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, or similar technical leadership role
- Demonstrated experience scaling systems to support growth, with a focus on backend technologies
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, cloud computing, and emerging technologies
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Proficient in our tech stack: NestJS, Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React, React Native, and AWS
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically and analytically
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
