
Head of Merchant Acquiring

**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Strategic Leadership and Business Development**:
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the Merchant Acquiring division, covering offline POS acquiring, PayFac models, and cross-border acquiring.
Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive opportunities to drive growth in the merchant acquiring space.
Develop pricing strategies, incentives, and business models that align with the company’s revenue and market expansion goals.
- **In-store POS Acquiring**:
Lead and manage the in-store POS acquiring business, ensuring a seamless and secure payment experience for merchants and their customers.
Collaborate with technology teams to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of POS terminals and related infrastructure.
Drive merchant acquisition, focusing on expanding the company’s network of offline merchants in high-growth segments.
- **PayFac Acquiring Model**:
Oversee the PayFac acquiring business, working closely with partners to streamline onboarding, ensure compliance, and enhance risk management.
Develop partnerships with key players in the PayFac ecosystem, ensuring alignment with card scheme and regulatory requirements.
Monitor transaction volumes and risk indicators, implementing preventive measures to manage fraud and maintain compliance.
- **Cross-Border Acquiring**:
Develop and implement strategies for cross-border acquiring, enabling merchants to accept international payments seamlessly.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with international regulations, optimize foreign exchange processes, and enhance the merchant experience.
Leverage industry insights to continuously improve cross-border transaction processes and enhance profitability.
- **Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management**:
Ensure all acquiring services are compliant with Singaporean and international regulatory standards, as well as card scheme (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) guidelines.
Collaborate with the compliance team to address regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to acquiring processes.
Lead efforts to ensure robust risk management and fraud prevention measures are in place, safeguarding the company and its merchant clients.
- **Card Scheme and Partner Relationships**:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with card schemes (e.g., Visa, MasterCard) to ensure alignment on initiatives, compliance, and new opportunities.
Represent the company in industry discussions and forums, advocating for our interests and staying informed on the latest trends and standards.
Negotiate and manage partnerships with acquirers, issuers, and technology providers to enhance our acquiring services.
- **Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration**:
Build and lead a high-performing team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
Work closely with Sales, Product, Technology, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of the acquiring strategy.
Foster a collaborative culture, driving communication and alignment across departments to achieve business objectives.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in merchant acquiring, with expertise in POS acquiring, PayFac models, and cross-border transactions.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in Singapore and international markets, with proven experience in managing compliance and risk within the acquiring space.
- Excellent relationships with card schemes (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) and a deep understanding of their requirements and expectations.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in building and managing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to drive growth and achieve revenue goals.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Experience in fintech or digital payment solutions.
- Knowledge of the APAC region’s acquiring market landscape.
- Strong network within the payment ecosystem, including banks, payment processors, and acquirers.
