**Overall Responsibilities**:
To create a warm, positive, nurturing environment in the school library, the Library Assistant of the school shall assist the Librarian to work enthusiastically and inspire a love of reading in all students.

The Library Assistant is tasked to assist with daily library activities such as issuing new library cards, checking out library materials, receiving returns, recording late charges and determining outstanding materials. To assist in overseeing and training students to return books and materials properly.

**_Includes but not limited to: _**
- Assist the Librarian in organising the resources in the library using appropriate processes and cataloguing systems.
- Assist in promoting library programmes with the aim of inspiring the love for reading in students
- Assist the library patrons in the use of all types of library resources by providing needed information. This will include all e-resources as well as emerging technology tools to promote trans-literacy.
- Assist to locate books or other reference materials to assist patrons and refers requests requiring professional assistance to the Librarian.
- Assist to explain computer systems, card files and other reference sources and how to use such systems to patrons.
- Assist in completing routine descriptive cataloguing.
- Assist to examine books for damage; assisting in repairs or assist to facilitate repairs when needed.
- Assist in preparing exhibits, seasonal displays and bulletin boards throughout the library.
- Assist in filing of Delivery Orders and other related documents
- Assist in delivering materials to the faculty and staff
- Monitor the distribution and/or collection of textbooks / class set books
- Manage and request library stationery supplies
- Assist in processing late charges/fines
- Settle any disruptions or disturbances in the library
- Performs other related duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Certificate or Diploma in Library Science or related disciplines
- Professional working experience in a library or research setting would be an advantage.
- Good interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organisational skills
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $1,800.00 - $2,000.00 per month
