**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Applications are invited for the appointment of Library Specialist at SMU Libraries (Singapore Management University).

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced professional to join our team. The position holder will support SMU Libraries’ mission by providing excellent customer service to the SMU community by performing service desk duties relating to addressing user enquiries, assisting with the circulation of library materials, as well as collection management related operations at both the Li Ka Shing Library and the Kwa Geok Choo Law Library, as scheduled by the User Access Services Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the aspects of the day-to-day operations of SMU Libraries relating to enquiries, circulation, and reserves across the service desks at SMU Libraries, in conjunction with student assistants.
- Listening and responding appropriately to user concerns and handling complaints at the service desk.
- Support the collection management activities of SMU Libraries, which includes, roving, shelving, updating browse count, identifying mouldy items for cleaning, managing repair and replacements, and housekeeping of the physical collection at SMU Libraries.
- Responsible for the physical collection donation process at SMU Libraries.
- Ensures reliable user access to e-resources through basic troubleshooting efforts.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues or escalates as needed to provide timely support to the user community on issues related to access, membership, IT and others as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Diploma holder with a minimum of at least 2 years’ experience in a customer service role
- Prior experience in an academic and/or public library setting will be advantageous
- Customer services experience, particularly in the library environment, will be advantageous
- Information search skills
- A user-focused approach is essential
- Strong communication (written & spoken) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks
- Ability to assign and provide feedback on tasks to Students Assistants
- Ability to develop and maintain relations with faculty, staff and students
- Able to work as a member of a team
- Organized, meticulous and responsible
