**Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)**:

- Directs clinical and service quality activities
- Leads, supervises, coaches, counsels and supports nursing staff to deliver high level of nursing care towards meeting organizational goals
- Develops, implements and evaluates nursing standards in her ward purview
- Provides high quality nursing care to patients and their families
- Plans and prepares staff roster and assignment
- Applies understanding of medico-legal matters, coaches and guides her nurses in this area during execution of their nursing duties
- Collaborates with Nurse Clinicians to develop, implement and evaluate care paths and care plans
- Manages public relation aspects of the ward/department
- Conducts nursing audits on nursing care standards and initiate actions for improvement
- Ensures nursing staff receive orientation, training and continuing education programmes in order to advance required level of competency
- Facilitates and participates in doctors’ rounds
- Evaluates and monitors the outcomes of patient care delivery
- Performs formative and summative assessment of nursing staff and nursing students
- Acts as a resource person and liaison for clinical, training and service matters
- Collaborates with Nurse Clinicians and Nurse Educators to maintain a conducive learning environment
- Monitors efficient and effective use and care of equipment
- Monitors efficient and effective use of consumables and supplies

**Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)**:

- Appraises and evaluates performance of staff and nursing students in her/his ward/department
- Prepares, monitors and reports the ward/department budget and expenditure
- Participates in research, clinical or service quality activities
- Chairs quality improvement committees
- Takes on additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by Senior Nurse Manager, Deputy/Assistant Director (Nursing) and Chief Nurse

**Required Competencies and Capabilities**:

- Registered Nurse with at least 9 years of post-registration clinical experience, of which 2 years must be as Assistant Nurse Clinician
- Diploma in Nursing with relevant post-basic advanced certification and Degree in Nursing from recognized training institution as approved by Singapore Nursing Board
- Able to work rotating shifts
- Possesses good inter-personal and managerial skills
- Display compassion and have a positive and caring attitude
