**Position Responsibilities**:
**Project Origination and Screening**:
- Participate, undertake and/or Support the Head of Project Design and Operations with the identification and screening of new projects. Initial focus will be on new project development in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.
- Participate in critical decision making regarding go/no-go scenarios on new projects.
- Generate GHG emission reduction/sequestration estimates as part of feasibility assessments.
**Project Design and Compliance**:
- Conceptualize projects, starting at design stage, laying out early stage visions for technical and operational approaches to projects.
- Ensure that projects are designed, from the outset, with key MRV indicators in mind, and adapting the project’s design and approach to realities on the ground in a way that creates a simultaneous top-down and bottom up approach.
- Spend significant periods of time on the ground understand local contexts, local norms, local conditions, the underlying nature and drivers of deforestation, before finalizing overall project design.
**Technology**:
- Work together with the GIS/Remote Sensing Team to direct outputs on project development needs regarding benchmark maps, risk maps, activity data, appropriate stratifications, inventory designs.
- Work closely with the data analytics department on the development of core carbon quantification functionality of ClearWind’s internal cloud-based data analytics system, specifically in regards to carbon quantification, carbon estimation and GIS/RS integration.
**Monitoring and Evaluation**:
- With the MRV team, review and evaluate needed strategic changes in project design and operational programs in a way that is data-driven and is optimizing climate, social and biodiversity impact.
- Work in lock-step with the Head of MRV to ensure that project design, indicators and monitoring systems are aligned.
- Support the CW MRV Team in annual monitoring audits and reporting as required.
- Lend support to the development of standard MRV systems as needed.
**Reporting and Documentation**:
Participate in and, in some cases, lead the development and preparation of certain sections of VCS/CCB PDDs for new projects, as requested.
**Operations, Management and Capacity Building**:
- Ensure that local operating teams have a clear understanding of the typical 2-year ClearWind project development phase, prior to implementation, that project departmental functions are clear at each stage of creating a new project, from Setup, and Preparation, to FPIC and land use planning, through into operational implementation.
- Preparing, overseeing and managing local operating teams to become ready for implementation. This may require frequent and/or a prolonged on-site presence to guide and undertake detailed capacity building, training and learning exercises.
- Ensure that clear deadlines and milestones have been defined, documented, communicated and are being monitored.
- **_Note _**_: Depending on the circumstances of the local operating team, work under this category may vary significantly. _
**Continuous Improvement**:
- Identify opportunities for enhancing the social and biodiversity impact of projects and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about emerging best practices, research, and relevant industry trends in conservation and sustainable development.
**Eligibility Requirements**:
- Master's or doctoral degree in environmental management,forestry, social sciences, biodiversity conservation, or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems for conservation and forest restoration projects.
- Demonstrated experience working with remote indigenous peoples and rural communities in Southeast Asia.
- Strong analytical and data management skills, with proficiency in relevant software and tools.
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Project management experience and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
