**Job Description**:
The Wall Street Journal is looking for an enterprising markets enthusiast to join our Asia finance team. You will work with colleagues in the region and around the world to help us break, cover and analyze some of the biggest news in markets, with a special focus on cryptocurrencies, fiat currencies and commodities like oil. These areas are at the center of global market action and real-economy issues like inflation, presenting a wealth of interesting opportunities and challenges.
This position is based in Singapore and reports to the Journal's Asia Finance Editor.
You will:
- Source up in Singapore’s financial community, quickly getting up to speed on the major issues of the day and developing a strong flow of ideas for stories
- Break news on crypto, currencies and commodities in a highly competitive field
- Develop smart, analytical stories about important market trends and developments
- Surprise us with the sorts of clever takes and unexpected ideas that only a true finance and markets enthusiast can find
- Jump in as needed to help our Asia team cover the full range of markets and other news breaking in our hours.
You have:
- Solid reporting skills paired with impeccable ethics and accuracy
- Genuine interest in markets and a demonstrated ability to consistently generate strong story ideas
- Strong news judgment and writing
- At least three years of experience covering finance or markets
- Ideally, fluency in Mandarin
