[What the role is]

NEA’s Waste Management Division (WMD) is responsible for the regulation of the waste management industry and implementation of key initiatives under the Zero Waste Master Plan, to achieve an efficient and sustainable waste-to-resource management system in Singapore.

The Waste Regulation Department (WRD) in WMD administers the Mandatory Waste Reporting scheme, the licensing of waste disposal facilities, mandatory provision of recycling receptacles in all condominiums and private apartments, and the mandatory requirements for food waste segregation and treatment by large food waste generators, to achieve an efficient and sustainable waste-to-resource management system in Singapore.

**[What you will be working on]**

You will manage and undertake initiatives in improving Singapore’s recycling rate. You will be responsible for the following:

- Manage the Mandatory Waste Reporting(MWR) scheme including:

- Checking with relevant Authorities to identify new premises that meet the MWR requirements and admitting these new premises into the MWR scheme
- Ensuring premises' compliance with MWR requirements
- Working with inspection and audit team to execute enforcement action for non-compliance with MWR requirements regime for MWR scheme
- Reviewing action plans and enforcement regime for the MWR scheme
- Performing in-depth analysis on MWR data
- Managing and providing data support to various stakeholders
- Working with policy teams to review strategic waste-related initiatives
- Reviewing work procedures and processes based on observations and data collected
- Working with IT team to establish a portal for collation and consolidation of premises’ data
- Handling of feedback and enquiries, ensuring timely provision of information, clarification or advice regarding waste and recycling regulations
- Any other tasks as assigned including improving recycling of assigned waste stream; promoting and implementing 3R programmes; working with community, businesses and government agencies; and collating recycling data

**[What we are looking for]**
- Degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering, with 1-2 years working experience in waste management and/or sustainability fields
- Proficient in Microsoft Office(Outlook and Excel) and data analytics tools
- A good team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Good writing skills
- Meticulous with an eye for details
- Organised and able to multi-task
- Outgoing and pleasant personality
- Mature, independent and resourceful
- Self-driven and always ready to strive for improvement
