Head of Engineering / CTO – Fintech (Brokerage & Exchange)

A new fintech venture in the brokerage and exchange space is seeking a highly hands-on senior technology leader (Head of Engineering / CTO). This role will be central in building the firm’s core technology platforms from the ground up, while also coordinating with group-level resources across engineering, DevOps, cybersecurity, and data to accelerate delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the technology roadmap, focusing on CRM, trading infrastructure, and brokerage systems.
  • Oversee the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of scalable trading and CRM platforms.
  • Be hands-on in architecture and technology choices, while building and mentoring an initial core engineering team.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional resources (engineering, DevOps, cybersecurity, and data), leveraging both direct hires and group-level support.
  • Establish governance frameworks, development methodologies, and architectural standards.
  • Ensure platform security, data integrity, availability, and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance user experience and system capabilities.
  • Partner with product, compliance, operations, and trading teams to deliver aligned solutions.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, cloud providers (AWS, Alibaba Cloud), and third-party integration partners.
  • Oversee technology budgets, KPIs, and delivery timelines.
Requirements
  • Proven track record as Head of Engineering, CTO, or senior engineering leader within fintech, brokerage, or trading platforms.
  • Strong background in CRM systems for Securities, Futures, or CFD Brokerage.
  • Expertise in high-concurrency and distributed systems supporting large-scale user bases.
  • Deep knowledge of system architecture, cloud computing (AWS/Alibaba Cloud), API integrations, and data engineering.
  • Proficiency in Java and modern development practices (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead engineering teams while remaining hands-on in delivery.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Mandarin proficiency preferred – many key stakeholders operate primarily in Mandarin.

Title will be aligned with experience and seniority – candidates from both senior engineering leadership (Head of Engineering) and executive technology leadership (CTO) backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
