Mathematical Statistician

**Duties**:

- You will advise officials on technical issues central to initiating new statistical programs or major revisions to current statistical programs.
- You will monitor program performance against the approved budget to comply with organizational plans.
- You will define computational methods to analyze data.
- You will evaluate statistical data to determine whether goals or objectives are being met.
- You will ask questions to clarify information received.
- You will explain technical or operational information to various audiences to negotiate and resolve issues.
- You will determine the need for the design of statistical and mathematical approaches for the purpose of arriving at reliable and adequate conclusions.
- You will formulate plans for design, analysis, or testing of engineering or scientific components.
- You will contribute input to management officials to provide engineering or information technology project strategies, schedules, or execution.
- You will furnish technical direction (e.g., analysis, testing, reporting test results) to project teams to resolve technical problems.

**Qualifications**:
**GS-13**
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Mathematical Statistician.
- Serving as a mathematical consultant and/or advisor to the scientific, technical personnel and outside agencies on mathematical problems as they arise.
- Acting as a technical representative by monitoring test, procurement contracts, and/or maintaining technical contract documents.
- Reviewing, reporting contract progress, and participating in design and progress review meetings, Monitoring and preparing test, installation, training facility, and site plans.
- Overseeing, conducting, or directing system tests demonstrations, and/or evaluations to establish technical sufficiency for advance research, and development and procurement activities.

**GS-12**
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Mathematical Statistician.
- Developing computer based high and/or low fidelity modeling and simulation capabilities for business intelligence analysis.
- Identifying requirements for various types of computation, algorithm development, visualization in a multi-vendor, and/or heterogeneous resource environment.
- Performing as part and/or direct the work of a multi-disciplinary group in providing mathematical and computational service for investigations.

- Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
