Chief Operating Officer, Emc

The Chief Operating Officer is an astute strategist and thought leader in the energy space. He/she leads a team to drive and seek new business opportunities, engages stakeholders to develop partnerships to deliver value to both the organisation and market. He/she will drive innovation and business process improvements projects across multiple EMC functions. He/she also oversees the Corporate Services team which covers Marketing & Communications, Legal & Compliance, Corporate Secretariat and Office Administration activities. This role reports to the CEO.

**Responsibilities**:
**Business Development**
- Lead business development to drive and manage the origination and assessment of business growth opportunities in the energy space to support EMC new business objectives.
- Identify strategic valuable new opportunities to grow the business and bring value to the market and corporate partners.
- Evaluate opportunities to determine the strategic and operational fit, resource optimization and compatibility with the EMC long-term plans and strategies.
- Establish new networks and relationships with potential corporate partners.
- Lead the implementation of high impact projects.

**Strategic Projects Lead**
- Lead the team to determine and prioritize strategic projects for EMC.
- Review business processes and initiate improvements throughout the organization to optimise operational efficiency and effectiveness in the organisational and communication workflows across the different functions.
- Develop and lead cross-functional business initiatives and projects throughout the complete lifecycle from conception to implementation. Streamline critical projects and communication/collaborate with fellow leadership team on project priorities and timeline.

**Corporate Services**
- Oversee and provide guidance to the Marketing & Communications team within EMC to develop marketing and communications strategies to enhance and promote EMC’s identity and culture, and raise awareness of EMC’s services and the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS).
- Work closely with the SGX Group Legal and Compliance team to ensure delivery of legal services within EMC and instil governance culture and practices within EMC.
- Oversee the Office Administration function to provide the required physical infrastructure, supplies and practices for operational effectiveness.

**Job Requirements**:

- MBA or Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related areas with at least 10+ years of working experience in the energy industry.
- Able to lead and influence both internal and external stakeholders, especially senior executives and Board members.
- Agile mindset, able to adapt and deal with ambiguity that is common in business start-ups and greenfield projects.
- Diverse knowledge and experienced in managing various business organisational functions, including business development, marketing & communications, legal & compliance, corporate secretariat etc.
- Highly competent in project management and managing diverse and greenfield projects.
- Strong negotiation skills. Able to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across functions to deliver results.
- Strong leadership skills in managing diverse teams across various functions.
