Cutting Tool Engineer

**Description of the role**:
This position serves as the primary developer of our carbide cutting tools for our manufacturing firm. The position is responsible for the preparation of all work order documents and CNC machine programs for the fabrication of new cutting tools. The position is also required to inspect various aspects of our manufactured tools to ensure quality of the tools fabricated by our team of CNC and QC technicians. The focus of this position is to ensure new and innovative tool design and our existing tools are of the best possible quality for our customers.

**Job Responsibilities**:

- Uses AutoCAD & similar programs to design new carbide cutting tools
- Inspects tools to required specifications looking for discrepancies using tool prints and inspection equipment
- Design and enhance new and existing carbide cutting tools
- Prepare production drawings, CNC machine programs and relating work order documents
- Highlight critical characteristics for CNC and QC technicians to ensure quality
- Housekeeping of all work order documents
- Other tasks as directed by management

**Qualifications Required**:

- Experience in carbide cutting tool manufacturing, specifically in tool design, is an added advantage
- The ability to work closely with others in a team orientated work environment.
- Must be able to verbally communicate, read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed drawings and documents, and be capable of doing mathematical calculations.
- Basic skills in using hand held measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers
- Previous tooling inspection experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and CAD/CAM programs is an added advantage
- MINIMUM relevant Polytechnic diploma
